Joe Haggerty- Coach Haggerty is a dedicated strength athlete and the most accomplished instructor at The Ludus. He has wrestled for over 20 years, and has recently taken up boxing and submission wrestling, winning a bronze medal at the 2014 Michigan Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Open. Despite a shortened High School wrestling career he still managed to win a state medal in Folkstyle and held a scholastic record of 147-24. In the Olympic styles he is even more accomplished with 10 state medals, a national title in Greco-Roman, a 5th place All-American finish in Freestyle, and a berth on Team Michigan International in Japan. Coach Haggerty has a winning record in over 700 amateur wrestling bouts, 3 appearances on Team Michigan, 11 state medals (5- 1st, 2- 2nd, 3- 3rd, 1- 5th), and 5 state championships. He teaches wrestling, clinch fighting, kettlebell & strength training, and nutrition at The Ludus.

Tom Capaldi- Coach Capaldi started boxing in the 4th grade and holds an amateur record of 18-3 (16 KO's) competing from 122-160 pounds. Despite not beginning wrestling until high school he was a four year varsity letter winner for one of the top ranked programs in the state at the time and fell just six wins shy of the century mark. He earned four state medals, two in Freestyle (3rd, 2nd), and two in Greco-Roman (2nd, 2nd). Since then he has gone on to fight amateur muay thai (1-1), found and coach the Kalamazoo College MMA Club, earn a blue belt in Jujutsu, and become a certified instructor in Personal Training, Fitness Nutrition, Senior Fitness, Kettlebell Training, and Youth Fitness. He most recently won a silver medal at the 2014 Michigan Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Open. Coach Capaldi teaches boxing, mma, wrestling, kickboxing, and strength & conditioning at The Ludus.
